10:30 in the morning was early for us college students. Two of my friends and my boyfriend packed up lunches and plenty of water, filled up the car, restocked on cigarettes, and headed east on the highway. We were headed for Ann Arbor for the day to go shopping and walk around in the sun. We arrived around noon and immediately found a sunny spot in the warm grass to eat lunch.
Sometimes you just need to get away for a few hours, to leave town with some good people and come back feeling refreshed. That weekend was everyone's miniature vacation, a time to get away from overbearing hours at work, a stressful situation with other friends, and to come out from under a pile of schoolwork.
My two friends enjoyed some shopping while my boyfriend and I, both very broke, walked around town and looked for the parking garage where our car was at. We spent about 45 minutes trying to find the garage, and ended up going into the wrong one at first. Another 15 minutes was spent trying to find the stairwell into the correct garage. What a mess!
When we returned to Kalamazoo, we headed fifteen minutes out of town to a nature preserve called El Sabo. We had heard raving reviews about the place from our peers, so we decided to check it out.

| I shouldn't have worn sandals on a day where I was going to walk around for six hours... |
